Today I would like to tell you about the Russian artist Vasily Vereshchagin. Vasily Vereshchagin Jr. was born on the 14th of October in 1842 in the town of Cherepovets. He loved to draw since childhood, but teachers complained about his carelessness. Vereshchagin was very hot-tempered in kind, always trying to achieve the ideal in his works. If he did not like something, he destroyed the canvas. He always showed the truthful events of the war and because of this, the authorities criticized him very strongly and Vereshchagin could not stand the criticism. The artist not only portrayed the war, but also participated in it, and because of this, he almost got killed once. The peak of his fame came at a time when Vereshchagin moved to America. He loved traveling and meeting different cultures. Once he went to the mountain kingdom of Sikkim, where he almost froze with his wife while drawing mountains. Unfortunately, Vereshchagin was killed during the Russo-Japanese War, when a shell hit the ship. The artist, who painted death on the battlefield so many times, could hardly have gone otherwise.
